James King to talk about BILL WARRINGTON'S LAST CHANCE

09/20/2010 7:00 pm
Join award-winning novelist James King for a presentation and book-signing based on his charming new novel,  Bill Warrington's Last Chance, which was the winner in an international competition for the next popular novel. With humor, the book weaves Bill Warrington's desire to reconcile his family into his struggle with Alzheimer's disease, his granddaughter's coming of age, a road odyssey and more - there is lots to talk about!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
James King, an Ohio native and current resident of Wilton, Conn., has been a corporate communications specialist for the past 20 years, but dreamt of becoming a fiction writer since the age of six.   He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in American Studies. Nearly thirty years later he returned to school and earned his Masters in Writing from Manhattanville College—during which time he wrote the bulk of Bill Warrington’s Last Chance.

Recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Bill Warrington wants to make things right with his family before the disease takes its toll. After several clumsy attempts at a reunion fail, Bill decides the only way to get his feuding sons and daughter talking to each other, and eventually to him, is to kidnap his 15-year-old granddaughter, April.

April is more co-conspirator than victim, though. At first, April is unaware of her grandfather’s condition. But with Bill’s increasing confusion and his random revelations of the Warrington family history—including the secret that drove the family apart—April comes to realize that she will be the one to determine if she reaches San Francisco—and if her grandfather gets the reunion he so desperately wants.
