Join father and daughter Kevin & Hannah Salwen, for a Valentine's Day tale you won't forget. Their family forged an incredibly strong bond over two years, culminating in a courageous act: they sold their home and gave half the proceeds to charity! They will be at Wellesley Free Library on Valentines Day at 2 pm to speak about their new book, The Power of Half: One Family's Decision to Stop Taking and Start Giving Back.
The Salwens had been caught up like so many of us in the classic American dream—providing a good life for their children, accumulating more and more stuff, doing their part but not really feeling it. From Hannah's concern about a homeless man, to family discussions, to the decision to sell their house and give half to charity, their discussions ended in an action which they hoped could make things better in a small corner of the globe. Little did they expect how much they would change themselves.
Come hear their story! They are not advocating selling your home, nor financial donations! Instead, they have suggestions for how to use the concept of the "power of half" to enhance discussions and action over a sustained period of time to transform your family while making the world a little bit better.
Copies of the Salwen's book, The Power of Half: One Family's Decision to Stop Taking and Start Giving Back, will be available for sale at the library, and the authors will be signing books after the presentation.
