Come meet chef, author, food blogger Georgia Pellegrini at Wellesley Booksmith, for a talk, tasting and book-signing co-sponsored by the Culinary Guild of New England and by Wasik's Cheese Shop. Georgia's talk is based on her new book, Food Heroes: Sixteen Culinary Artisans Preserving Tradition, a collection of stories of artisans she has befriended throughout her fascinating culinary career. She calls them Food Heroes because they've stepped off the grid and devoted their lives to doing what they love, the slow way. In Food Heroes: Sixteen Culinary Artisans Preserving Tradition, Georgia Pellegrini introduces readers to the lively stories of artisanal food devotees such as New York mushroom forager Marion Burroughs, French fig collector Francis Honore, fish missionary Jon Rowley in Washington State, and Ugo Buzzio in New York City, one of the last makers of traditional dry-cured sausages in the United States. Chef Georgia Pellegrini is no stranger to cooking, having graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York and worked in two of New York's most esteemed restaurants, Gramercy Tavern and Blue Hill and StoneBarns, as well as one of the premier Michelin restaurants in France.
