The New York Times Book Review called the star of Francisco Stork’s young adult novel Marcelo in the Real World, “the bravest, most original hero I’ve met in years.” Marcelo in the Real World went on to receive 5 starred reviews, to be chosen as a Hornbook Fanfare Book, and to be a Publisher’s Weekly Best Book of 2009.
Now Francisco Stork is coming to our very own Wellesley Booksmith to talk about his work and to introduce his eagerly awaited new novel, The Last Summer of the Death Warriors, which tells the story of Pancho, a teenager plotting the murder of his sister’s killer. Pancho’s life changes when he arrives at St. Anthony’s Home for Boys and meets D.Q., a boy with cancer who introduces him to his personal philosophy of life, which he calls the “Death Warrior’s Manifesto.” As Pancho and D.Q.’s friendship grows, both their lives will change forever.
Francisco Stork was born in Monterrey, Mexico and was raised in El Paso, Texas. A practicing attorney for an affordable housing agency, he lives with his wife near Boston. Learn more about Francisco and his books by visiting his website at www.franciscostork.com.
