Meet Sarah Lamstein, local children's book author
Start: 2:00 pm
End: 4:00 pm

On a rainy night in early spring, spotted salamanders by the hundreds crawl out of the woods and down to a vernal pool where they mate and lay their eggs.  But what if a road interrupts the salamanders’ path to the pool?

Author Sarah Lamstein joined volunteers young and old in helping the salamanders cross the road, and found that the children are the most eager helpers.  This happy intersection between child and critter is what she writes about in her new picture book, Big Night for Salamanders, which she’ll share as part of an interactive presentation on Sunday March 21st at Wellesley Booksmith

Sarah is the author of several picture books, a folktale collection, and a novel for young readers.  Her most recent book, Letter on the Wind, was a Sidney Taylor Honor Book  in 2008.  She lives right down the road in Newton. Visit Sarah's website at www.sarahlamstein.com.
