"Ms. Tartt has made Fabritius's bird the MacGuffin at the center of her glorious, Dickensian novel, a novel that pulls together all her remarkable storytelling talents into a rapturous, symphonic whole and reminds the reader of the immersive, stay-up-all-night pleasures of reading....But it's not just narrative suspense that drives this book; it's Theo and Boris, the stars of this enthralling novel, who will assume seats in the great pantheon of classic buddy acts (alongside Laurel and Hardy, Vladimir and Estragon, and Pynchon's Mason and Dixon), taking up permanent residence in the reader's mind."
--Michiko Kakutani, New York Times, October 8, 2013

The Secret History is one of those books that is truly deserving the accolade a modern classic. It is a novel that connects many generations of readers through its dark story of the clever, group of eccentric misfits at an elite New England College that come under the influence of their charismatic classics professor who learn how hard it is to truly live but how easy it is to kill. Donna Tartt’s first novel is a remarkable achievement, both dramatic and playful.
It is the very same compelling and elegant storytelling that Donna Tartt’s brings to her new novel, THE GOLDFINCH. Over a decade in the making and worth every bit of the wait, THE GOLDFINCH is a haunted odyssey through present day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It is a novel of shocking narrative energy and power. It combines unforgettably vivid characters, mesmerizing language, and breathtaking suspense, while plumbing with a philosopher's calm the deepest mysteries of love, identity, and art. It is a beautiful, stay-up-all-night and tell-all-your-friends triumph, an old-fashioned story of loss and obsession, survival and self-invention, and the ruthless machinations of fate. Would you expect anything less from Donna Tartt?
This is ticketed event. Tickets are $5.00 and can be used as a coupon towards the purchase of a copy of THE GOLDFINCH.
Donna Tartt will ONLY sign copies of THE GOLDFINCH this evening. No backlist titles PLEASE.
